Pre Academic Program

General Information

The Pre-Academic Program of the University of Curaçao Dr. Moises da Costa Gomez seeks to prepare prospective students for advanced education in a manner that enhances their prospects for success in subsequent studies both internationally and in Curaçao. Students who successfully finish this program will have gained proficient language and 21st century skills, along with a suitable mindset regarding their own educational journey. The Pre-Academic Program runs from the end of August 2025 to the first week of July 2026.

Admission requirements

Students with a secondary school diploma at vwo, havo or sbo-4 level can be admitted to the program. 

Target Students

The program is designed for students who: 

-  aspire to pursue higher education but have not yet determined their field of study; 

- want to go abroad to commence their higher education journey, but would like to take another year in order to be better prepared; 

- have chosen to take a GAP year and are seeking to make the most of this opportunity; 

- have not yet decided where they want to go for their higher education.

Costs

The costs associated with participating in the program are XCG 1,500.00.  

The program consists of two main parts.

 The first part of the program includes the following mandatory subjects:

 - Dutch Language Proficiency 

- English Language Proficiency 

- From high school to Student at the University 

- Coaching 

- Individual & Society 

- Cultural Sensitivity 

- 21st Century Skills 

(Incl. study skills and basic research skills) 

 The second component consists of taking elective courses offered by the five faculties of the UoC. The student chooses courses which will enable him/her to get insight into the content of the chosen subjects.

Registration

Students who are interested can already do so by indicating this on our website at: www.uoc.cw/preacademic. Students who actually want to participate in the program, must register for it! Registration for this program is done digitally and starts on July 3, 2025. The following must be submitted when registering: 

 - 1 digital passport photo; 

- a valid ID (sedula or passport); 

- diploma & grade list; 

- proof of payment.
